Course Outline

Project management is a branch of Management Science based on the design and control of projects with a high level of uncertain economic viability or risk. A project is defined as an effort to produce a unique service or product within a limited amount of time. A project can also be defined as the harnessing of resources, modifications, and various production tools and systems, including human skill, to create a desired output.

The aims of project management include completion within the allotted time frame, fulfilling the project’s objectives with the desired level of quality, remaining within the designated budget, and ensuring the client’s satisfaction. Typical projects in organizations are often based on staying ahead of the competition, by improving company proficiency and efficiency. The purpose of the course is to expose participants to the project life cycle, which includes the stages of characterization, building, economic resource allotment, risk management, schedule management, and more. Participants will learn how these and other stages can be performed through the use of tools such as MS Project.
